Taking the Initiative with Confidence
Battered Women's Support Services wants to drive citizen engagement and social action through its fundraising initiatives to reach its goal of $2 million. Here are some of the campaigns underway:

Social Media

Mobile Giving. The ability to give… through your cell phone. Mobile giving will enable our supporters to text a specific word to our designated number and donate simply and quickly. Donations are listed on your monthly bill delivered by your service provider.
Facebook. Some of our greatest supporters ‘like’ our mission giving us the thumbs up for our posts and messages online to end violence against women. Facebook initiatives to raise awareness about our mission gives us plenty of opportunities to connect and spread the word. What can we say, the writing is on the wall—communication is a two–way street and we love to hear from our Facebook friends.
Twitter. The red—hot platform of the web allows us to reach our followers quickly and generate a lot of buzz about the issues. Keeping our audience informed is key to our success and we hope to ‘tweet’ on a regular basis to educate and liberate.

Volunteerism
We’re looking for a few good men and women! At the heart of all registered charities and non—profit organizations is the commitment of volunteers that truly make any campaign successful. If you think you’ve got what it takes to assist us in our mission we would like to hear from you. Contact us today and join us in our community initiatives. Together we are strong.

How to Build a Community Leader — Workshop Series
If you build it they will come. Our commitment to developing positive male role models will help today’s boys and men become tomorrow’s community leaders. Battered Women’s Support Services will host a workshop series dedicated solely to identifying and enabling male candidates who can contribute to the goal of ending violence against women through the development of their leadership skills. Stay tuned for more information on a community workshop coming to your neighborhood soon.

Community & Cultural Events — Talent Show
Showcasing positive male role models is one of the small steps to our ultimate success in ending violence against women. That’s why The Violence Stops Here is reaching out to male performers, singers, dancers, visual artists—any one who would like to be seen and heard in the quest to raise awareness about violence issues. If you have a specific talent and want a gig, we have the place for you at one of talent shows that will give you a chance to be noticed. All it takes is a $50 donation on your part in order to audition and then you have the opportunity win one of ten places to perform in the big event and be seen by an appreciate audience and media. More information about audition dates and times to follow here so be sure to check back soon.
